Am I gonna get a ticket in the mail?

Ok, so i am just learning to drive and I am 19, yes it's sad but whatever, and today i was driving back home with my mom and I had to turn to the left the light was green so I sped a little to catch it but as soon as i'm about to turn it turned yellow and as I was turning it turned red. My mom says that it's ilegal since I was supposed to stop and I'm like no it's not since it was still yellow when i was turning.. who was right? will i get a ticket since there are these blue lights on top of the traffic light which my mom says are cameras?
