What music should I listen to?

I've never cared for any kind of music except Clical; I'm really into it, and listen to it as much as I can. I study voice, and piano, and (clical) music history; I've never felt the need for any other kind of music. I know practically nothing about modern music, except that I don't care for it; I'm not trying to be a snob, I just don't like the way it sounds and it doesn't seem as complex or abstract as, say, Mozart. But when people ask you what kind of music you listen to and you say "Clical" they give you this odd look, so I feel like I should pick something more normal to familiarize myself with. Just to make my social life easier. But I have no clue what to pick or where to start - can you recommend anything? Not too vulgarly popular, but not too weird, and that wouldn't label me as part of some social group? Just something that would seem intelligent and independent?
